VOID Privacy Policy
Last updated: 24 October 2026
VOID is a media player for iOS. This policy describes what data the app handles, where it stays and who it may be shared with.
The basic principle is simple: VOID has no backend. There is no VOID server that collects your data, there is no VOID account, and none of the information the app generates about how you use it leaves your device.
1. Data controller
Mohamed Doukoure (natural person), Italy.

2. Data that stays only on your device
The following information is stored locally only (app storage, UserDefaults, the system Keychain) and is not sent to us or to third parties:
- your watchlist and saved titles;
- playback progress and viewing history, including the log used to build your VOID Wrapped recaps;
- your search history;
- files downloaded for offline viewing;
- app preferences (preferred audio language, layout, accessibility, quality, download behaviour);
- the addresses of the media sources you set up and their credentials;
- the snapshots that feed widgets and Live Activities (titles in progress, download progress), stored in an area shared only between the app and its widgets on your device;
- AI captions: transcription happens on the device and the audio is not sent to anyone.
Uninstalling the app removes this data from the device.
3. Media source credentials
If you connect a source (Jellyfin, Plex, WebDAV, Google Drive, Dropbox, a direct link or a manually configured host), the related credentials and tokens are kept in the iOS Keychain, protected by the operating system. They are used only to contact the service you indicated and are not accessible to us.
You can remove them at any time from _Profile › Your sources_.
4. Sign in with Google or Apple (optional)
Signing in with Google or Apple is optional and only serves to identify your local profile on this device and, for Google, to authenticate you with the Google services you choose to connect (for example Google Drive). VOID requests the minimum scope necessary, keeps tokens in the Keychain and does not send them to third parties. There is no server-side VOID profile: by revoking access from your Google or Apple account settings, or by signing out of the app, the local tokens and profile are deleted.
5. Third-party services contacted by the app
- TMDB (The Movie Database) — used for titles, artwork, cast, descriptions and catalogue search. Requests contain the search terms and the identifiers of the content shown, like any TMDB client. Requests may pass through a technical relay (a Cloudflare Worker operated by the developer) that only forwards them to TMDB adding the service key: the developer does not keep their content. Privacy policy: https://www.themoviedb.org/privacy-policy
- OpenSubtitles — only if you use the online subtitle search (a Premium feature). The request contains the title identifier (TMDB/IMDb), season and episode and the chosen languages, plus the IP address inherent in any connection. OpenSubtitles' terms and privacy policy apply.
- jikan-edge and Tenrai (MyAnimeList) — when you open an anime's page, VOID asks jikan.lucashdo.com (and, if it does not answer, api.tenrai.org) which episodes are filler or recaps. The request contains only the series' MyAnimeList identifier, plus the IP address inherent in any connection; none of your account data.
- YouTube — if you watch a trailer or content its author publishes on YouTube, the video is played with YouTube's embedded player (youtube-nocookie.com), which Google operates under its own policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Apple — purchases and subscriptions (StoreKit), SharePlay («Watch Together»), Sign in with Apple, and the optional lookup of the app's version on the App Store (for the update notice). If you have enabled sharing of analytics data in iOS settings, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports through TestFlight/App Store Connect: they do not contain your content.
- Free services on the web (Blender Studio, Wikimedia Commons, NASA) — if you open one of their pages, VOID contacts those sites to show and play their content; their own policies apply.
- Services you connect (Jellyfin, Plex, Google Drive, Dropbox, WebDAV, manually entered hosts) — VOID contacts them only because you asked it to, and how they handle data is governed by their own policies, not this one.
This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
6. What we do NOT do
- No advertising tracking. The app contains no advertising SDKs, does not use the IDFA and does not ask for ATT consent because it tracks nothing. The short spots the free version may show before a video are made by VOID itself: they do not come from ad networks and share no data.
- No remote analytics. We do not use Firebase, Crashlytics, Sentry or similar tools. Performance measurements and crash reports stay on the device. You can export them yourself from Settings › Privacy and data › «Export diagnostics» and choose whom to send them to: the app never sends them on its own. They contain technical data (stack traces, memory, energy), not titles, history or accounts.
- No profiling or automated decision-making.
- No sale or transfer of personal data.
7. System permissions requested
- Local network — to reach media servers on your network (e.g. Jellyfin or Plex at home), to play downloaded content reliably and for «Watch Together on the local network» with nearby devices you choose. The system asks you when needed.
- Adding to the photo library — only to save an image you explicitly choose to export (posters, wallpapers). VOID does not read your photo library. If you choose a photo of your own as artwork, the selection goes through the system picker and VOID receives only that photo.
- Speech recognition — only if you turn on AI captions; processing happens on the device.
- Notifications — local notifications generated by the app on the device (for example new releases of titles you follow, première reminders, download status). We do not use push notifications from a server.
8. Minors
VOID is not intended for children under 14 and does not knowingly collect data from minors. Since the app collects no data server-side, there are no records to delete on our side.
9. Subscriptions (VOID Premium)
If you subscribe, the transaction is handled entirely by Apple through your Apple ID. We neither receive nor store your card details. The app checks the subscription status through StoreKit on the device. You manage and cancel from _iOS Settings › Apple ID › Subscriptions_. You can restore a purchase you already made from the VOID Premium screen (_Restore purchases_).
10. Your rights
Since we hold no personal data on any server, the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability (Articles 15-22 GDPR) are exercised directly on the device: you can view, edit or delete everything from the app settings, or by uninstalling it. You can still write to the address in section 1 with any question.
11. Changes to this policy
Any updates will be published at this same address with a new «last updated» date. Substantial changes will also be flagged inside the app.
